A Sunny, Lakeside Dream Come True Wedding

A Sunny, Lakeside Dream Come True Wedding

A Sunny, Lakeside Dream Come True Wedding

Tell us your story… Patrick and I first met through some mutual friends while we were both attending Cazenovia College. As fate would have it, we were actually from neighboring towns, but it took going away to college for us to actually meet!

Where did you two tie the knot? The Otesaga Resort in Cooperstown, NY. The very first time I had ever been there was in 2008 with my cousin and a high school friend. I fell in love with the location and thought to myself, “This is where I would want to get married.” Fortunately, Patrick and I both love historical buildings, and small town charm. The Otesaga was the perfect combination of both. It was the first venue we looked at in person during our search, and we knew right then and there that we had to search no more. 9 years after the fact, my wish came true- the weather cooperated like it never does in Central New York and we had a magical ceremony by the lake.

Spill the details about your wedding! I am very much into the whole shabby chic look. I pulled ideas from here and there (Pinterest mostly) which resulted in a mix of new and old. Quite a few of the details were hand made by me- from the table numbers to the hand painted backdrop banner. The end result was what I called “The Secret Garden” look. Peonies and greens decorated the tables, candelabras with greenery wrapped around the stems were scattered throughout, and vintage books and brass candle holders were the perfect addition. Our “place cards” were little honey jars filled with local honey from a family friend’s beehives. My bridesmaids were in varying pastel hues of the same dress while the groomsmen provided the perfect contrast in their navy pants, bow ties and suspenders. Patrick somehow managed to tolerate the heat in a three piece suit from Suit Supply, and I felt like a million bucks in my bespoke wedding gown. It was a family affair in every way- my sister was my Maid of Honor, and my cousin and Patrick’s sister were my two other Bridesmaids. Patrick’s cousin was his Best Man, and my two brothers were his Groomsmen. My baby brother was my ring bearer, and my niece and nephew played the roles of Flower Girl and Junior Ring Bearer. To top it all off- my cousin helped to design and decorate my dream wedding, while another cousin was our MC! The ceremony was held outdoors under a decorated arbor that Patrick made for our day. It was a gorgeous, sunny, 80-something early summer afternoon. Our reception was filled with laughter and wonderful memories- complete with a poem my cousins dug up that my eleven-year old self wrote about love. We were surrounded by family and friends- it was the perfect day. Patrick and I continued to remark how we couldn’t believe that this was our wedding. After all the hard work- we had pulled it off!

It was truly a dream come true wedding!

What was your favorite moment? Patrick and I took the traditional route of not seeing each other AT ALL the morning of the wedding. We even exchanged wedding gifts and letters at the corner of the building so as not to get a glance of one another. By the time I was waiting to walk the aisle with my father I was such an emotional mess, but it made that moment all the more memborable. Having my father by my side as I walked (okay, maybe speed walked) to my future husband’s side left my heart swelling with so much emotion I thought it would burst.

Donna & Joseph’s Rustic Inspired Wedding

Tell us your story… We met in high school [Boyertown Area Senior High], during band practice back in 2005…. many moons ago!

Where did you two tie the knot? Lake of Isles Golf Club Resort at Foxwood Casino in North Stonington, CT. I  [Donna] chose the location due to the casino being convenient for out of town guests (half of the people who came to celebrate were from out of state!) and due to the beautiful deck that overlooked the lake and gorgeous scenery.

Donna & Joseph's Rustic Inspired Wedding

Spill the details about your wedding! We decided to go with a rustic-inspired wedding theme using grey and mint green as our main colors. We used burlap and lace accents along with crystal brooches to embellish all of our decor.  Table centerpieces were wooden crates that were handpainted & handmade (by the bride’s Aunt & Uncle) with floral arrangements that consisted of beautiful white hydrangeas with succulents and other greenery.  All bridesmaids wore mint green dresses in the style they prefered, matching hair clips & earrings. Groomsmen wore grey suits from David’s Warehouse with mint accents, and super hero socks & pocket squares which was made by the mother of the bride. I wore a beautiful beaded embellished strapless sweetheart a-line gown with matching jewelry & a bespoke rustic inspired wedding garter set made by Alyson Nicole. My bouquet was handmade by myself with burlap hydrangeas, an assortment of gorgeous brooches, and lace accents.

It was the perfect accent to our rustic inspired wedding theme!

What was your favorite moment? Announcing when we became man and wife. The excitement of finally becoming legally joined in front of all of our family and friends- them accepting, appreciating, acknowledging our love- was definitely the best part of our entire rustic-inspired wedding!

A Charming Summertime Barn Wedding

Tell us your story…  We met in late December in Philadelphia through mutual friends.  Maggie was fresh out of a relationship, and Ally was trying to set her up with her best friend…that last part never happened.  After a cross country road trip, followed by more than two years of long distance love, we made things final at the top of Observation Point in Zion National Park.

Where did you two tie the knot?  Our wedding was at Tinicum Park Barn in Erwinna, PA.  We looked at millions of places, from upstate New York to Virginia.  We wanted to be surrounded by beautiful scenery and Tinicum Park was just that.  There was a beautiful fern bed that we instantly fell in love with, and the surrounding land was perfect for pictures.  The venue was reasonably priced and everyone was more than accommodating during the process.   We really lucked out in finding this venue, and snagging the last weekend available for the year!

It was the perfect place for a outdoor barn wedding!

Spill the details about your wedding!  We tried to shoot for simple and laid back, just like us.  The colors of our wedding seemed like a no brainer to us.  Orange and gray, our favorite colors! The orange bridal party dresses made a wonderful pop of color along side the bright green of the grass and ferns, and gray was the perfect compliment.   The aisle,  lined with single stem orange flowers in bright blue wine bottles hanging from the end of a branch stake, led up to the oriental rug that we stood on next to the barn  To bring the ceremony together, we hung large ferns in the barn windows, Maggie’s favorite plant.

We feasted outside under the trees at the wooden picnic tables covered with off white runners.  Our center pieces were clear wine bottles filled with beach glass we had collected from the spot that I had proposed to Maggie.  We danced inside the barn, under large white lights strung along the rafters. Decorations included framed pictures from our many adventures, and each table had either a  large glass vases filled with branches wrapped in fairy light or a gray coffee can filled with ferns.

Our bridal party wore orange wrap dresses with navy sandals, which they accompanied with a silver mountain necklace given to them by the brides.  The other members of the party wore gray pants, white collared shirts, gray suspenders, an orange bow tie and navy shoes. They accompanied their ensemble with a bamboo wrist watch, also from  the brides.

What was your favorite moment? I think we can both agree without a doubt that it was the ceremony.  They were predicting severe thunderstorms and hail during the day, but we decided to risk it and hold the ceremony just outside the barn.  We had each written our vows to each other in a small leather bound journal.  Just as Ally was beginning to read hers, the sun broke over the barn and cleared away the dark clouds.  We stood there, in the bright sun, in front of family and friends and read our vows to one another for the first time. Through all the stresses of planning, and getting ready that morning, it was truly a moment in which everything around us melted away.  We laughed and cried our way through, along with everyone else.  You could feel the love and energy in the air, it was truly a magical moment, and we would do it again in a heartbeat.

A Tropical Wedding On Long Island

Tell us your story… We met at Harrah’s pool party in Atlantic City! I (Ali) was there for a bachelorette party and Jeff was actually there for a bachelor party. I saw him dancing and went right up to him and said “How is it that you’re a red head AND can dance?” He responded by saying “Yeah kid!”, and kept going.

Where did you two tie the knot? We had our wedding at the Chateau Briand in Carle Place, Long Island. The outdoor area, where we ended up having our cocktail hour, had palm trees, fountains, and fire pits which reminded us so much of being on a tropical vacation. At that moment, we were sold!

Spill the details about your wedding! We kept with the tropical-inspired theme of the outdoor patio and went with cobalt blue, jade green, and white with hints of Bermuda blue for our color palette. The men wore a traditional black tux with bow ties and suspenders. The ladies complemented the groomsmen by wearing either a jade green or cobalt blue dress with Bermuda blue Swarovski jewelry. Beautiful flower bouquets and arrangements consisted of white calla lilies and roses with pops of blue orchids. For our music we had a flutist playing Metallica during the ceremony, a live reggae band at cocktail hour, and a DJ/band combo for our reception.

It truly felt like a Tropical Wedding!

What was your favorite moment? Besides becoming Jeff’s wife, I’d have to say that having everyone you love from all around the world in one room at the same time smiling and enjoying themselves was our favorite part. Nothing will ever top that!

V & Z NYC -A Rainy Summer Wedding in Central Park

Tell us your story… Zac is an actor and he was in a play my friend had tickets for. My friend knew the playwright, so after the show we all went out for food and drinks, which is when Zac sat next to me in our booth and asked how we liked the show. He helped himself to my french fries as we got to know each other. We’ve been together ever since.

Where did you two tie the knot? Central Park. I wanted a place in NYC, since this is the city where we met and fell in love. I also wanted a location that I could always go back and visit, with our kids someday, and when we [grow] old. Central Park will (hopefully) always be there.

Unlike restaurants and event centers in NYC which turnover all the time, Central Park felt right.

It’s an iconic NYC location and a place Zac and I love to go to with our dog, Simon.

Spill the details about your wedding! We wanted a pretty casual, yet elegant NYC wedding. Since [the ceremony] was outside in the park we played with that idea [by] using a food truck as our caterer and paper plates to give it that picnic in the park feel, even though our reception was in a dance studio downtown. I’ve always loved black and white, so those were our colors with a splash of gold. Our flowers were Dahlias since they are big, beautiful, and in season. *I purchased my [gold] veil from Alyson Nicole, [who] I met in college. I remember her talent shining though as a fashion student and I knew she would be the perfect fit to make my wedding look come to life.

What was your favorite moment? One of my favorite memories was when a student of mine texted me in the morning. It was a complete surprise and reminded me how happy I am in my life, working a job that I love, marrying the man that I love, and surrounded by people that I love. I also loved my daddy/daughter dance, which we started slow and ended with a fun choreographed number to my fav, Taylor Swift. One of our friends surprised us with a limo at the end of the night which was fun surprise that we shared with our close friends and family.

A Summertime Vineyard Wedding- #MickeyandBecky4Life

How did you and your husband meet? [Here’s the] short version: We went to highschool together but didn’t know each other. We then went to college together on the same scholarship, became friends, but never dated. We then went to work for the same company, [and] still never dated. After a few years of living our own separate lives, there came a time when both of us were single and looking for the same things in life. We finally began dating and never looked back.

Where was your wedding? We decided to get married at Valenzano Winery because it was a vineyard. See, on our first vacation together to Cape May, we were looking for things to do that neither one of us had done before. That how we came upon a wine tasting. We enjoyed the experience so much that it became a regular habit of visiting any wineries while on vacation and eventually the theme for our wedding day.

Spill the details about your wedding! We decided to go with the color scheme of purple and gray. Not only because purple is the color for grape but those two colors were our college alma mater colors. It all worked out very nicely. The girls had on purple dresses with a splash of gray through their belts* and the guys wore a light gray suit with purple ties. They all looked amazing!  *My bridesmaids purchased custom-made silver belts that were the accent to their dresses. I heard about Alyson through one of my bridesmaid who had been a part of a different wedding that Alyson had also provided services. She came highly recommended and she was right!

What was your favorite moment? Walking down the aisle and seeing the faces of all my friends and family sitting and smiling, and then looking at the end of the aisle and seeing Miguel waiting and smiling back at me.

Congratulations to Mickey and Rebecca! I wish them a life full of love, health, and happiness.

xo

An Elegant Fall Wedding

Andrew and Nicole had a stunning fall wedding at RiverCrest, located in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. The grounds surrounding the venue along with the gorgeous weather, enhanced their fall theme which was captured beautifully by their wedding photographer, Leah MacDonald.

The Groom and his groomsmen wore silvery grey tuxes accented with burgundy boutonnieres that complimented the bridesmaids’ dresses perfectly. The flowers were filled with shades of deep red that had pops of yellow, orange, and a crisp white creating a wonderful fall color scheme.

Nicole walked down the isle in a beautiful beaded dress by Maggie Sottero, pearl jewelry, “something blue” shoes, and a hand beaded birdcage veil that used a piece of lace from her mothers’ wedding dress.

Andrew and Nicole were married under a charming wrought iron arch that was handmade by the Bride’s father. After the ceremony, the arch became a prime spot for guests to take photos when they weren’t too busy enjoying the Groom play guitar with the band. The perfect evening ending with the guests sending the Bride and Groom off with a dazzling “Sparkler Finale”.

OUR FAVORITE MEMORY FROM THE WEDDING:

FROM THE BRIDE & GROOM: The beginning and the end, both were full of love and happy memories which will last a lifetime. We had our ceremony in the Roberts room, because we knew inside under the arch my dad made, and close to all of our guests who were there out of love. Then at the end Big Ric got everyone on the perimeter of the huge dance floor, and had everyone rush in for a massive group hug, it was amazing to visually see each and every one who loved us showing it.

{GUEST BLOG POST} Chasing Fashion: New Year’s Eve Wedding Glam!

Written by Sage Beauty Blog

“Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.”

Maya Angelou

Hi Lovelies,

Tis’ the season for engagements and magical winter weddings.  Having a New Year’s Eve wedding is a festive and glamorous way to tie the knot. What better way to start the new year than starting a new life with your true love.  What can I say….I’m a hopeful romantic!

I had the pleasure of creating a New Year’s Eve winter bridal look with the help of the brilliant designer Alyson Nicole.  Her pieces are 100% handmade right here in New York, and are the perfect finishing touch to your wedding day look. She creates bags, belts, custom-made veils and jewelry. Each piece is a work of art with a feminine, elegant, and timeless aesthetic.

Let’s start with something new:

Finding the perfect dress is the first step in creating the look and feel of your wedding. The dress I’m wearing is an ivory empire waist dress with pearl embellishment.  It matched my accessories perfectly, and I loved the flowy and romantic feel of the dress. This dress is very versatile and could also be worn for engagement pictures, a rehearsal dinner, or a bridal shower.

Now we need something borrowed:

The moment I put the Pearl Veil on I felt Princess Grace of Monaco. The Pearl Veil is a birdcage veil made with french tulle and glass pearl details, and stays firmly in place with a metal comb.  This is a good choice if you plan on wearing your hair up for your ceremony.  It matched the vintage-inspired look of my dress as well.   I chose the The Madelyn Earrings because they were a perfect compliment to the veil and can be worn with many other looks after the wedding festivities are done. These chandelier earrings can also be worn with a little black dress for a night out or during the day for a touch of art-deco glamour.  The Pearl Rhinestone Headband was also my ‘something blue’.  It is a fun alternative to a veil or after the ceremony and formal pictures are done, simply switch out your veil for the headband and dance the night away at your reception after midnight.

Don’t forget something old:
I was able to incorporate two pieces from my own closet with my dress. A winter wedding calls for a luxurious fur to keep you warm. Whether you have a soft faux fur coat like me or perhaps a vintage fur from your mother or grandmother, it pulls the look together on the most glamorous night of the year. Or rather, your most glamorous night! And New Year’s Eve is not complete without some sparkles.  I opted for my favorite sparkly gold platforms.
