Elegant Beach Elopement

Wisconsin,

Despite its tendency to sit quietly as “America’s Dairyland,” is a state that is incredibly special. The land flows effortlessly from fields of golden wheat to breathtaking rock formations, from rolling green hills to waterfalls; and while its neighbor claims the nickname of “Land of the Lakes,” Wisconsin actually hosts a few thousand more. For brides and grooms who dream of a quiet vow ceremony against a backdrop of waves and gulls, there are two Great Lakes in particular that can claim to be as large as some seas. We wanted to showcase the pristine beauty of Lake Michigan with this styled beach elopement, so we chose a location just ten minutes outside of Milwaukee that is rich in views and boasts over 800 feet of sandy shoreline.

'She loved the sea.

She liked the sharp
salty smell of the air,
and the vastness
of the horizons
bounded only by a vault
of azure sky above.

It made her feel small,
but free as well.’
―George R.R. Martin

We kept the details elegant and minimal,

using what a bride and groom would likely bring to the shores themselves for a very intimate setting. The colorful and beautifully untamed florals provided by Vy’s Floral Design out of Chicago added the perfect accent for a free-spirited beach elopement. Our bride wore a flowing, ombré MinkMaids gown, paired with makeup that highlighted her features with a soft touch. Quartz bridal accessories completed the raw, simple elegance of her look, and our groom kept his own look natural and effortless. To highlight the tones of the water and surrounding vistas, our colors were organized around soft blues, blue-tinted greens, and white, with a touch of the delicate blush of a beach sunset.

Modern Winter Wedding Inspiration

Modern Winter Wedding Inspiration

Its been over a year since this lovely winter wedding styled shoot was published on Artfully Wed and The Reverie Gallery, but I just couldn’t help myself… I had to share this lovely collaboration with you, again! Working on this shoot was just an amazing experience filled with wonderfully talented vendors and incredible details that will spark inspiration for any bride or groom planning a winter wedding.

This stunning and modern affair was planned by Details By Chelsea Ann and captured by For The Love Photography. The color palette includes bold rich colors with a pop of citrus which brings a whole new look to a winter theme. The beautiful wedding invitation suite and calligraphy was provided by Eliza Gwendalyn and brought extra originality to this shoot. The multi-tiered cake by Cake Heights was accented with a gorgeous edible flower and lace-like details, almost too good to eat!

I styled the beautiful bride in a handmade sheath wedding dress with a plunging neckline that had delicate lace detailing, a full open back, and a removable Swarovski crystal embellished cape. The dress was accented with crystal embellished illusion gloves, the bold Lux crystal earrings, the head-turning Starling Quartz tiara, a beautiful wire wrapped Cyrene quartz pendant, and the oh-so-lovely shoes by Emmy London. Her look was completed with hair by Erica Starr and flawless makeup by Kiki Takos!

The groom wore a tux by the Black Tux accented with a handmade tie and matching pocket square by Alyson Nicole, a boutonnière accented with a wire wrapped quartz pendant, and citrus colored alligator cuff links.

Drooling over the details already? But, wait! There’s more…

From For the Love PhotographyDetails by Chelsea Ann set out to create a glamorous, modern winter wedding inspiration shoot with a palette of soft winter whites, surprisingly paired with bold pops of citrus and deep winter tones. To create a dreamy, romantic setting, she mixed textures to transform a clean loft into an intimate space where guests would want to linger. Ice Chiavari chairs surround a rosette draped table, while a private oasis for the couple with a sheepskin rug, Lucite tables, and a tufted settee offer respite to indulge in a citrus and white sangria cocktail. An oversized garland comprised of pine, eucalyptus, kumquats, anemone and ranunculus created a focus point on the monochromatic table scape.

Guests find their seats by the hand calligraphed cards tacked on the custom designed marshmallow pin board. The custom fine art invitation suite by Eliza Gwendalyn set the tone, combining a modern typeface delicately letterpress printed on Crane Lettra paper with her signature calligraphy style in a vibrant orange ink. As guests exit through a crystal curtain with dangling hot chocolate favors, hand lettered notes remind them that “love is brewing.” This intimate, modern loft affair was captured by For the Love Photography. Proving that modern can still be romantic and dreamy, this lovely shoot brings winter wedding inspiration to life with a citrus twist.

We felt that wedding blogs and magazines are so focused on spring and summer weddings, and winter weddings tended to be kitschy or holiday focused. We were inspired by a modern day Elsa from Frozen, who we imagined would have eloped in an intimate loft affair in Manhattan but added a little brightness to the cold winter palette with accents of citrus. Of course, our Elsa glammed it up with deep berry lips and an elegant, hand sewn gown but kept her crystal tiara and Swarovski studded accessories and cape. It was so fun as a photographer to photograph such a dream inspiration shoot.

It was definitely a dream shoot to participate in and THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this happen. Now, take a look, pin some of the lovely details on Pinterest, and just get inspired!

A Charming Summertime Barn Wedding

Tell us your story…  We met in late December in Philadelphia through mutual friends.  Maggie was fresh out of a relationship, and Ally was trying to set her up with her best friend…that last part never happened.  After a cross country road trip, followed by more than two years of long distance love, we made things final at the top of Observation Point in Zion National Park.

Where did you two tie the knot?  Our wedding was at Tinicum Park Barn in Erwinna, PA.  We looked at millions of places, from upstate New York to Virginia.  We wanted to be surrounded by beautiful scenery and Tinicum Park was just that.  There was a beautiful fern bed that we instantly fell in love with, and the surrounding land was perfect for pictures.  The venue was reasonably priced and everyone was more than accommodating during the process.   We really lucked out in finding this venue, and snagging the last weekend available for the year!

It was the perfect place for a outdoor barn wedding!

Spill the details about your wedding!  We tried to shoot for simple and laid back, just like us.  The colors of our wedding seemed like a no brainer to us.  Orange and gray, our favorite colors! The orange bridal party dresses made a wonderful pop of color along side the bright green of the grass and ferns, and gray was the perfect compliment.   The aisle,  lined with single stem orange flowers in bright blue wine bottles hanging from the end of a branch stake, led up to the oriental rug that we stood on next to the barn  To bring the ceremony together, we hung large ferns in the barn windows, Maggie’s favorite plant.

We feasted outside under the trees at the wooden picnic tables covered with off white runners.  Our center pieces were clear wine bottles filled with beach glass we had collected from the spot that I had proposed to Maggie.  We danced inside the barn, under large white lights strung along the rafters. Decorations included framed pictures from our many adventures, and each table had either a  large glass vases filled with branches wrapped in fairy light or a gray coffee can filled with ferns.

Our bridal party wore orange wrap dresses with navy sandals, which they accompanied with a silver mountain necklace given to them by the brides.  The other members of the party wore gray pants, white collared shirts, gray suspenders, an orange bow tie and navy shoes. They accompanied their ensemble with a bamboo wrist watch, also from  the brides.

What was your favorite moment? I think we can both agree without a doubt that it was the ceremony.  They were predicting severe thunderstorms and hail during the day, but we decided to risk it and hold the ceremony just outside the barn.  We had each written our vows to each other in a small leather bound journal.  Just as Ally was beginning to read hers, the sun broke over the barn and cleared away the dark clouds.  We stood there, in the bright sun, in front of family and friends and read our vows to one another for the first time. Through all the stresses of planning, and getting ready that morning, it was truly a moment in which everything around us melted away.  We laughed and cried our way through, along with everyone else.  You could feel the love and energy in the air, it was truly a magical moment, and we would do it again in a heartbeat.

A Summertime Vineyard Wedding- #MickeyandBecky4Life

How did you and your husband meet? [Here’s the] short version: We went to highschool together but didn’t know each other. We then went to college together on the same scholarship, became friends, but never dated. We then went to work for the same company, [and] still never dated. After a few years of living our own separate lives, there came a time when both of us were single and looking for the same things in life. We finally began dating and never looked back.

Where was your wedding? We decided to get married at Valenzano Winery because it was a vineyard. See, on our first vacation together to Cape May, we were looking for things to do that neither one of us had done before. That how we came upon a wine tasting. We enjoyed the experience so much that it became a regular habit of visiting any wineries while on vacation and eventually the theme for our wedding day.

Spill the details about your wedding! We decided to go with the color scheme of purple and gray. Not only because purple is the color for grape but those two colors were our college alma mater colors. It all worked out very nicely. The girls had on purple dresses with a splash of gray through their belts* and the guys wore a light gray suit with purple ties. They all looked amazing!  *My bridesmaids purchased custom-made silver belts that were the accent to their dresses. I heard about Alyson through one of my bridesmaid who had been a part of a different wedding that Alyson had also provided services. She came highly recommended and she was right!

What was your favorite moment? Walking down the aisle and seeing the faces of all my friends and family sitting and smiling, and then looking at the end of the aisle and seeing Miguel waiting and smiling back at me.

Congratulations to Mickey and Rebecca! I wish them a life full of love, health, and happiness.

xo

{GUEST BLOG POST} Chasing Fashion: New Year’s Eve Wedding Glam!

Written by Sage Beauty Blog

“Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.”

Maya Angelou

Hi Lovelies,

Tis’ the season for engagements and magical winter weddings.  Having a New Year’s Eve wedding is a festive and glamorous way to tie the knot. What better way to start the new year than starting a new life with your true love.  What can I say….I’m a hopeful romantic!

I had the pleasure of creating a New Year’s Eve winter bridal look with the help of the brilliant designer Alyson Nicole.  Her pieces are 100% handmade right here in New York, and are the perfect finishing touch to your wedding day look. She creates bags, belts, custom-made veils and jewelry. Each piece is a work of art with a feminine, elegant, and timeless aesthetic.

Let’s start with something new:

Finding the perfect dress is the first step in creating the look and feel of your wedding. The dress I’m wearing is an ivory empire waist dress with pearl embellishment.  It matched my accessories perfectly, and I loved the flowy and romantic feel of the dress. This dress is very versatile and could also be worn for engagement pictures, a rehearsal dinner, or a bridal shower.

Now we need something borrowed:

The moment I put the Pearl Veil on I felt Princess Grace of Monaco. The Pearl Veil is a birdcage veil made with french tulle and glass pearl details, and stays firmly in place with a metal comb.  This is a good choice if you plan on wearing your hair up for your ceremony.  It matched the vintage-inspired look of my dress as well.   I chose the The Madelyn Earrings because they were a perfect compliment to the veil and can be worn with many other looks after the wedding festivities are done. These chandelier earrings can also be worn with a little black dress for a night out or during the day for a touch of art-deco glamour.  The Pearl Rhinestone Headband was also my ‘something blue’.  It is a fun alternative to a veil or after the ceremony and formal pictures are done, simply switch out your veil for the headband and dance the night away at your reception after midnight.

Don’t forget something old:
I was able to incorporate two pieces from my own closet with my dress. A winter wedding calls for a luxurious fur to keep you warm. Whether you have a soft faux fur coat like me or perhaps a vintage fur from your mother or grandmother, it pulls the look together on the most glamorous night of the year. Or rather, your most glamorous night! And New Year’s Eve is not complete without some sparkles.  I opted for my favorite sparkly gold platforms.

Vintage Romance

Nowadays you can’t help but to see Gatsby inspired weddings. Whether it is on Pinterest, a bridal blog, or in you favorite bridal magazine, there is just something about that era that makes weddings even more glamorous.

If you fell in love with this beautiful trend, like many of us did (including myself), then you should fall in love with the Vintage Romance Collection.

Using Swarovski elements, lace, silver elements, and more, the Vintage Romance Collection is are sure to make you feel elegant. Within this gorgeous collection you will find a few key trends that you do not want to miss out on.

Statement Necklaces are a major trend this season. With all the fuss about low-cut necklines and backs, designers are adorning the dramatic look with statement or backward necklaces and unique capelets. Pearl and beaded embellished necklaces are more classic styles where as a beaded capelet is for the more adventurous bride.

Metal Hair Accessories  have never been more popular then they are now since the flapper era. Modernize this look by adding a beautiful head chain or some pearl embellished hair pins. Great for any type of bride.

Flower embellished accessories  are a MAJOR hit this season on all bridal accessories. This trend gained popularity due to the festivals which was easily adopted into the bridal market effortlessly. This dominating trend looks great with all wedding themes.

Large scale netting  is being used for veils as more of a modern but vintage-inspired look. This trend is more commonly seen in avant-garde bird cage veils.

Encrusted belts and sashes  seem to always be in trend but this time they are stepping up their game. Belts are adorned with beads and rhinestones in art deco geometric patterns. The embellished belt has become a staple accessory for the modern day bride.

Make sure to check out Vintage Romance!

Behind the Scenes: Fall Bridal Launch

After weeks of planning and multiple rescheduling, a group of 16 amazing people gathered together for a photoshoot on Saturday, October 3rd. Even though it was dark and gloomy outside, we managed to keep the mood light and cheerful indoors.  Mind you, the first scheduled date was postponed due to the weather. I was not letting a little ol’ hurricane stop it this time.

I honestly don’t know what I was thinking when I first planned this shoot. I’m definitely a creature of habit because I always bite off more than I can chew, but somehow it all came together.

11 models total; 2 brides, 2 grooms, 5 bridesmaids, 1 ring bearer, & 1 flower girl. All of which I designed and made new accessories for every single model.  I didn’t even think twice about doing it, which either means I’m crazy or extremely passionate about my work.

Originally the shoot was supposed to be outside so that we could capture the historic Brooklyn Bridge shot in Dumbo. Like I said earlier, mother nature wasn’t cooperating. So I sucked it up, gathered whatever decor I could from my apartment and my friends, made some wall hangings, and voila! Wedding photoshoot decor.

The bouquets that the girls are holding were also made/arranged by myself. I took a trip to the flower district the week prior and bought a ton of silk flowers. I’m glad I did because I wouldn’t have had the time to arrange fresh flowers the morning of. Between decorating the room, styling the hair, styling the models, and directing the shoot I had barely anytime to think.

However, this day would not have happened without the talented individuals who shot the photos, applied the beautiful makeup (with next to no breaks! sorry for the marathon!), and lets not forget the models. You were all outstanding and I can not thank you enough! I seriously can’t. Another big thank you to Patty who started the day at 9:30 running around and of course helping me immensely.  All of the behind the scenes photos can be viewed in the gallery to the right. I cannot wait to launch the new accessories that were used for this shoot! Stay tuned, because “Vintage Romance” is launching soon!

1 Dress 5 Ways

Wedding season is here and it’s a great time especially when you’re a guest for multiple weddings. The celebration is joyful, the food is delicious, the dancing is non-stop fun, and the memories you help create will start the newly weds lives off right.

The only downfall can be the attire, especially if you’re on a budget. As we ladies know, dresses can add up, rather quickly might I add, but that doesn’t mean you have to break the bank. Instead of buying multiple dresses, use one dress and style it with different accessories to transform your look for each wedding to come. I promise you, it’s that easy and I’ll show you how.

I asked my dear friend Cat to help me out with this project. She sent me multiple pictures of dresses she already had in her closet. From those, I chose only one and asked her to model this dress while I styled her five different ways.

Plain Dress

Pulling separates from her closet and mine, styling with some of my handmade accessories we were able to take this one dress and create five different outfits.

Look #1 – Casual

This look is GREAT for a casual wedding. The dress is styled with a blue jean jacket, a pearl y-drop necklace, pearl drop earrings, a blue & white pearl rhinestone headband, and the Cherish clutch in silver.

Look1-Casual

Look #2 – Hamptons chic

A nice preppy look for a beach front wedding. I added a white button up shirt from my closet and tied it in front to add a trendy detail. The outfit is also styled with  the pearl choker necklace with matching bracelet, the beaded pearl headband, and the Lace but Not Least clutch.

Look2-Prep

Look #3 – Glam

If you don’t have the money to spend on a gown, use signature pieces from your closet to glam up your dress. For an example, I adding a black skirt overtop and it already makes this outfit more glamorous! Styled with the crystal chain drop earrings, a hand beaded sash, the Cherish Clutch in black metallic, and the Chloe headband as a beautiful bling necklace!

Look3-glam

Look #4 – Boho Chic

The Boho trend is in more than ever recently!  To get this look pair your dress with something with fringe or macrame. Luckily Cat owned this crochet fringe vest which worked perfectly with this look. I also styled this dress with the crystal quartz pendant, gold chain fringe earrings, the boho chic satin flower wire crown, & a lace belt.

Look4-boho

Look #5 – Art Deco

Ever since the Great Gatsby came to the big screen, people have been obsessed with the fashion. To achieve this style I paired this dress with the hand beaded Aubrey Tiara, the pearl reverse necklace, the pearl & rhinestone bracelet and matching earrings, the Forever & Always clutch, and belted it with a hand beaded crystal belt!

Look5-ArtDeco

As you can see ladies, don’t stress out about wedding season. Take a good hard look in your closet for key pieces to style with some brand new accessories! Preferably from Alyson Nicole 😉
